Product Branding: Microsoft Versus Apple
This might be old, but it remains a classic!
This video was created by Microsoft, or to be more precise their packaging design company, to show the challenges the brand faced back in 2006. Apple’s brand is all about emotion whileÂ MicrosoftÂ bombard their potential customers with features and benefits. It’s clear which one got it right.
I think this is not just a reflection on Microsoft, but on the design methodology one follows (or copies). Sometimes designing exactly what the customer (boss, client, brand manager, product ownerâ€¦etc.) tells you they want is not necessarily the best idea.
