We recently caught up with actress & internet sensation (8 million views in 1 week) Reanin Johannink (@reanintigerlily) for an exclusive interview.

What’s it like being an internet sensation?

The same as not being an Internet or Youtube sensation I guess? It’s just that more people become aware of who you are. Id like to say I now drink from a gold chalet and have Egyptian painted girls, in gold, feed me grapes, but sadly, no.

Any advice for your new admirers or stalkers?

Why would I want to give a stalker advice? The only thing I would be giving them is a restraining order. Stalkers are not fun – and I would know, having had 2 already in my life! 🙁 Admirers? come say hi, I wont bite…ok maybe I will, but its because its fun!

For those readers of ours who’ve been in solitary confinement can tell them about Rear View Girls?

It was just a fun and crazy experience that we never expected to ever end up having the attention that it did. We ended up having 8 million views in one week and to date over 20 million views. That’s insane. The worldwide media interest and viewer interest was also great for what it was. So I think to just realize how effective the internet is and with one little idea you can create a worldwide storm, if you hit the right button. Would be great to create awareness about something worthwhile.

What opportunities did this viral marketing video open up for you?

I don’t know if it opened up any new opportunities other then making more people aware of me – which is always a positive thing in my industry!

What do you think of PR and Marketing people? No really.

Well its the industry I’m in, so if you’re gonna play a game, you need to know how to play it. That’s all I’m gonna say. Oh and smile sweetly! 🙂

What is this we hear about you and Zombies?

Wait you heard about that? It’s not my fault, I was born with that fetish! 😉 No, I filmed a zombie movie last year called “I survived A Zombie Holocaust” which is a dark comedy (similar to “Zombieland“) and it will be released later this year – so watch out for it, because it is brilliantly written and definitely a must see if you like zombies (or cult films) or even not. Just watch it because it will be awesome and so much fun, I promise! Oh and there is a good surprise in there to do with me and…well I cant really tell you, but you wont be disappointed, that I know for sure!

This is the trailer:

Being good looking is sometimes a burden, were you bullied as a kid?

Well first off, thank-you, that’s very sweet! And yes I was. Actually I was bullied very badly at school, to the point where I would sit in the music room at lunch time writing songs and making up my own movies….OTL (only the lonely). At the time it was the worst thing ever, but to be honest, now I wouldn’t change any of the horrible experiences I had, because they have made me such a strong and independent person and other peoples direct negativity does not affect me anymore.

The only opinions that matter to me now, are from those whom I love and respect. And ironically, many of those same people who were so nasty and hurtful to me at school, have tried to contact me and strike up friendships now I am known. Hilarious.

What kind of people do you dislike?

I don’t like mean-spirited, negative or judgmental people. People who pretend to be something they are not and people who betray you or people who are only out to benefit for themselves – at the sake of others. I also don’t like anyone who hurts animals and if I see it, I will hurt them!

Speaking of people you dislike what advice have you for Kim Kardashian?

Please go away. I cant deal with seeing your face on every single magazine, newspaper and TV show I see. I feel like knocking you out. Seriously, you asked..

What’s your worst quality besides hiding cameras in your butt?

Woaah…first off, it wasn’t IN my butt, it was ON my butt (“Rear View Girls” was a G rated show MR, haha!) And I like to think this is a good quality too, but for me; its all or nothing. When I want something – whether its to do with my career, a person or in every day life – I go after that 110% and don’t stop until I achieve (or get) what I want. If I have my eye on something, nothing will get in the way because I always get what I want. I am extremely passionate and motivated.

On the flip side, because I am like this I am also very stubborn, challenging and blunt and a lot of people cant deal with that.

Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?

Well not as such, because of circumstances outside of our control. But I will say, that there is somebody who has my heart, and I have his.

Would you prefer to date a geek or a freak?

Hmmm depends what kind of a freak? But generally I like my freaks over my geeks…

Are you an iPhone are Android person?

This isn’t even a valid question because nothing is better then an iphone. NOTHING. I cant function or even live without it. I call it my mechanical child. One time I lost it and felt like I had lost a limb, I cried so much….no seriously! I’m ‘that’ sad person.

What are your favourite websites and iPhone apps?

Websites: Facebook and Twitter (@reanintigerlily).

Apps: Whatsapp and Viber.

Favourite book, film and ad of all time?

Film has to be Disney’s “Pocahontas” and book is “The Presence Process” By Michael Brown. Its about living in the moment and being completely present. It actually changed my life. I recommend it for everyone who wants to “wake up”.

And ad? Well at the sake of some shameless self promotion, it has to be my own ad for Tui Blond Lager, it was a really great one.

Have you always wanted to be an actress?

Well I have been performing since I can remember. My parents used to have “parent time” because every time their friends came over, I’d want to sing or dance or perform and be the center of attention – I guess not much has changed, except its on a bigger scale! 😉 Its always been inside me, I am an extremely creative, passionate and intense person and acting gives me a chance to explore parts of myself – through characters – that I wouldn’t ideally do on a daily basis. It’s a warped kind of therapy actually, but it’s extremely addictive and fulfilling on all levels. I started doing theatre at about 12yrs old, got my first role on TV at 21yrs old and then went to short films and movies from there.

What is the strangest thing a role required you to do?

Bite a chunk out of someones arm….but that wasn’t strange, it was pretty awesome!

What is a typical day like for an upcoming actress/model in Hollywood?

Ok wake up, go up to runyon canyon or to the gym to work-out, eat breakfast, prepare and go to class (acting school), have some lunch and revise class. Go home, read and learn any audition scripts I have (always a few days before my audition) and do book reading for school. If I have auditions that day prep and go to the auditions. Also I will talk to my manager and/or agent at least once a day depending on how many auditions I have or if I have anything coming up or feedback from past auditions – or just hassle the shit out of them if I haven’t been getting auditions.

Then home in the evening, have dinner and sit down to read over/learn and perfect audition scripts I have already learned and go over my accent training sheet or any reading/homework from school I haven’t finished. Then if I have time, try go see a movie, as its the industry I’m in and I try go see everything as part of my job. Then sleep.

What advice have you for young actresses?

No matter what anyone says, all you need is faith in yourself. Self-belief is what drives you and without it, you have nothing. There is so much rejection in this industry on a daily basis, that if you don’t believe in yourself and your gift then it will chew you up and swallow you whole and you will never want to leave your house for the rest of your life and end up a scary, bitter, old cat lady. Please love yourself and have faith in yourself and you will succeed no matter what.

What is something that you know now that you wish you knew when you were first starting out as an actor?

That everyone has there own opinion and you shouldn’t listen to any of it! Maybe your management – maybe (haha if they read this, they will kill me because they know what I am like) but you will know in your heart the people that are looking out for you. Everyone else can eat a dick.

If you could choose, what three actors or actresses would you really like to work with?

Ooooh I like this question. Without a doubt Leonardo Dicaprio (@LeoDiCaprio), Daniel Day Lewis and Angelina Jolie. The day I am on screen opposite any of those 3 will be the day I die a happy actress!

Dream role or job?

Something extremely dark and intense with a lot of levels. I’d love Natalie Portmans role in “Black Swan” or Elizabeth Olsens role in “Martha Marcy May Marlene“. Im generally drawn to characters with a lot of depth and a lot of hurt or built up disturbia from there past; tortured souls on a quest for something more. I guess I have my own story in there somewhere!

What inspires you creatively?

So many things inspire me; everyday i’m inspired by new things…..

What do you do in your downtime?

I write music, I paint, I write poetry, I love eating beautiful food, watch movies, go for hikes, go to the beach and just hang out with my friends and family…laughing about random stuff.

What’s in your refrigerator?

Well to be honest, I’m a total health freak. No meat, gluten or dairy…other then chocolate! That I am addicted too. And when I say addicted I don’t mean, haha that’s funny, I mean I actually have such a serious problem, that if I don’t eat chocolate on a daily basis I hate everyone around me 😉

In my fridge you would find chocolate, eggs, gluten free bread, tofu, falafal, lentils, sprouts, almond milk, fruit (especially berries), avocado and every other kind of vegetable imaginable. Oh and green tea…i have like 5 cups of that a day. Its like a party in my mouth.

If I gave you a Rhinoceros where would you hide it?

Oh my god, why would I ever want to hide that???? If you gave me a Rhino, it would probably be the best gift I have ever received and it would come everywhere with me, hell, I’d ride it around instead of using my car. Dopest ride ever. Rhino girl would be my name.

If you could do one thing different in your life what would it be?

To be honest, I don’t really like this question because I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without having experienced everything I have gone through. Its given me a strong heart and a fire in my belly.

What does the future hold for you?

Success, love, light and inspiration! And a house on a cliff top in Spain, with animals, my own organic vegetable garden, solar power and some rug-rats and an incredible husband!
